PREPARE is a pre-marital assessment tool now used by more than 60,000 pastors and counselors nationwide. A prospective bride and groom each answer a 165-item questionnaire (on paper or by computer). Pastor or counselor receives a 15-page computer analysis showing the couple's strong and weak areas, and a booklet containing several couple exercises for use in the counseling process.

COUPLES considering marriage who would like to take the PREPARE inventory and discuss the results with a counselor should contact Rev. Douglas Cater at 708-280-3148.
Doug Cater also leads training seminars for PASTORS AND COUNSELORS who wish to use PREPARE with their couples. Participants also learn to use ENRICH, a similar inventory for use in marriage counseling, and MATE, an inventory for older couples.

PREPARE/ENRICH has conducted extensive research which has established that these inventories can predict with about 80% accuracy which couples are likely to have a successful marriage and which will have serious problems, resulting in unhappy marriage or divorce.
Training Seminars are held from 9 am to 3:30 pm at the Berkeley-Hillside Presbyterian Church, located at 5207 Ridge in Hillside, just east of Elmhurst. For directions, click here.
Fee for the training is $175, which covers all materials needed to use PREPARE, ENRICH, MATE, and two other inventories. Registrants also receive a coupon entitling them to one free scoring of a couple's inventory.
The next training has been scheduled for Monday, January 19.
For later seminar dates, please call or email Rev. Cater.
