PRE-MARITAL SEMINARS
The Marriage Ministries pre-marital seminar, for engaged couples or those considering marriage, is held in churches in various locations in the Chicago area, usually on a Saturday from 9 am to 4:30 pm. (For couples who cannot attend on Saturday, it is sometimes held on a Sunday afternoon and evening or on two weeknights.)
Over 850 couples have attended these seminars since 1987. The seminar teaches skills in the areas of communication and conflict resolution, and basic principles for creating a successful marriage.
The seminar is designed to complement, not replace, a pastor's pre-marital counseling.

A unique feature of the seminar program is its follow-up aspect. People who attend any kind of seminar may later tend to forget or neglect using the skills they learned in the program. To help couples remember principles and practice skills, a questionnaire is emailed to them at four month intervals for two years, inviting them to rate their progress in creating a successful marriage relationship. Telephone consultation, counseling services, and small support groups are made available. (Participation in the follow-up progress is optional, but it can be very effective in helping couples "stay on the right track.")
